In my day job, we are in touch every now and then customers ask about search engine positioning and optimization. Most of the time the customer is contacted by SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) consultant trying to talk to them to pay a lot of money on search engine optimization services. SEO companies promise "guaranteed top results" and "Transmission of 500 000 search engines and directories."

Many owners are regularly contacted by scam companies like this, and it is understandable that many in the trap and start paying for the best results and presentation of all. " After all, they do not want not that your website is highly ranked by search engines?

In an attempt to help some people avoid paying unnecessary optimization for search engines, I would like to share what I've achieved a very good placement in search engines, this site as well as customer sites.

First, let me say that all SEO consultants there are crooks - there are many reputable companies in the industry. However, no promises "guaranteed results", "presentation to 500 000 search engines and directories", "instant results" or "top posts" is probably a scam. It is not possible anyone can guarantee that your site is the number one result unless they effectively control the results of search engines, or if the highest rank is a word or phrase that does exists on your site, of course.

What strikes me when I think through the steps I took to get a good placement on search engines is how much SEO has in common with the accessibility, usability and high quality markup - the principles of web standards.
